English Language Upgradation Program
J N Petit Technical High School is the only school in Pune which has implemented the English Language Upgradation Program for Pre-Primary and Primary Sections under the guidance of an expert team of professionals, comprising of Ms Massarat Khan (CEO of MDA, Mumbai) and Ms Rameeza Khan – Head of Counselling Section of Avabai Petit Girls School, Mumbai. The program focusses on developing strong English skills (to name a few – phonics, spellings, reading, writing, etc) in every child by catering to their individual needs.

- Assessment and Placement: Begin with assessing students’ current proficiency levels through standardized tests or placement exams to determine their starting point in the program.
- Curriculum Design: Develop a structured curriculum that covers all aspects of English language learning, including grammar, vocabulary, reading comprehension, writing skills, listening, and speaking. The curriculum should be age-appropriate and tailored to the needs of the students.
- Language Labs and Resources: Set up language labs equipped with multimedia tools, audio-visual materials, and interactive software to provide students with immersive learning experiences. Additionally, provide access to a variety of reading materials such as books, magazines, and online resources.
- Interactive Learning Activities: Incorporate a variety of interactive learning activities into the program, including group discussions, role-plays, debates, storytelling, and language games. These activities encourage active participation and engagement, making the learning process more enjoyable and effective.
- Language Immersion: Create opportunities for language immersion through activities such as English-language clubs, cultural exchange programs, and language camps. Immersion experiences help students gain confidence in using the language in real-life situations and improve their fluency.

- Continuous Assessment and Feedback: Implement regular assessments to monitor students’ progress and provide timely feedback on their strengths and areas for improvement. This feedback can help students track their growth and motivate them to continue working on their language skills.
- Professional Development for Teachers: Provide training and professional development opportunities for English language teachers to keep them updated on the latest teaching methodologies and best practices in language education.
- Parental Involvement: Involve parents in the language upgradation program by providing them with information about the program’s goals, strategies, and ways they can support their children’s language learning at home.
- Celebration of Achievements: Recognize and celebrate students’ achievements in English language learning through certificates, awards, and special events. Celebrating success can boost students’ confidence and motivation to continue learning.
- Monitoring and Evaluation: Regularly monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of the program through feedback from students, teachers, and parents, as well as performance data. Use this feedback to make adjustments and improvements to the program as needed.
